I sheepishly surrendered in good Christian fashion to the biblical admonishment to “turn the other cheek.” Surprisingly, accepting that teaching felt so natural that I made no reaction. I endured the verbal attack to both my public and private face and only much later did I question: “How does a disciple of Jesus live out his [or her] faith well in both arenas?
